How does Reiki Work?Reiki works directly with the subtle energy of the body’s electromagnetic field in conjunction with all the systems of the body, particularly the endocrine system. Reiki works with the body’s innate ability to repair injury, release both physical and emotional trauma and maintain optimum health. By addressing the root causes of dysfunction, Reiki offers more than symptomatic relief. The Reiki practitioner does not do the healing. S/he simply acts as a conduit for the Reiki energy. Because a Reiki practitioner has received attunements from a qualified teacher to the higher vibration of this healing energy, s/he is able to transmit it through herself like a conduit. The individual’s willingness to assume responsibility for his or her decisions aids in the healing process. Reiki is not a form of “faith healing.” In fact, no belief is required by the receiver, Reiki acts independently of the beliefs of the receiver. Reiki energy flows only from the practitioner to the receiver, working on many different levels, and never moves backward to trouble the practitioner. When you give Reiki it moves through you to clear, stimulate and promote healing—Reiki practitioners do NOT take on their clients problems. Reiki is a safe, simple and natural method of healing that treats the whole person. When energy that has been stagnant in the body moves—it can be called a cleansing. By practicing the system of Reiki, we attempt to encourage cleansing so that the energy can flow freely throughout the body. When energy moves in the body, you can often feel it. It may feel like tingling, sharp pain, warmth, muscle spasms or any number of sensations called registers. Registers indicate that energy has been stimulated and is moving in the body. They may be strong or mild sensations depending on the student, and the student's current situation. |
