Reiki is effective working with people who are experiencing a variety of chronic and acute physical and emotional distresses. Reiki is rapidly being successfully integrated into numerous clinical settings including hospitals, hospice, in private practice and in self-care around the world. Therapists in their work to strengthen a person’s connection to their true self and release emotional and spiritual blocks often incorporate Reiki. Now, it is common for hospitals to have teams of Reiki practitioners available to a range of patients, including those with cancer or recovering from surgery. Reiki is especially appreciated in hospice care where its ability to alleviate pain and anxiety for both patient and family members is so greatly needed. Reiki is a wonderful complementary modality in a personal wellness or healing program. Reiki is NEVER meant to replace medical treatment; rather it complements allopathic medial care or other natural therapeutic techniques you may be using, such as massage. Reiki can relieve side effects from other treatments, or medicines, such as chemotherapy and anesthesia (see benefits). Reiki is easily practiced in all hospital environments from outpatient clinic to intensive care.
